People often ask me why there are so many feathers in my universe. Why I create feathers, over and over, in reclaimed wood, in pyrography, in earrings.
The first time someone asked me that question, I didn't quite know how to answer. To me, it was simply obvious. So I took the time to really reflect on it, and here's what I want to share with you.
An Obvious Choice That Went Beyond Simple Taste
Yes, I've always loved feathers. But over time, I came to understand there was much more behind that choice.
A feather is an organic material. It connects to my grounded side: wood, nature, raw matter that has already lived a life before passing through my hands. Working with reclaimed wood and bringing a feather to life through pyrography and paint is a way of revealing what was already there, hidden within the material.
And that's exactly where the heart of my approach lies: seeing the hidden potential in matter, just as in ourselves.
The Feather as a Symbol of Grounding
A feather first allows a bird to land. To take a moment. To exist in that space of grounding, before flying off again.
That's also what I want to offer through my art and my workshops: a space to land. A moment to slow down, reconnect with yourself, take the time to feel what lies beneath the surface.
The Feather as a Symbol of Elevation
But a feather isn't only about grounding. It's also everything I want to bring through my art: lightness, elevation.
When I talk about connection, when I want you to shine, to take flight, it's the feather that carries that message. It links the ground to the sky. Grounding to elevation.
That's exactly what my universe is: a space between two worlds, where matter meets movement, where the concrete meets the symbolic.
An Infinity of Ways to Be
There are feathers of every color, every shape. Just as there are countless ways to be human.
Each feather is unique, just as each of us is. It's an idea that opens onto great freedom, both human and artistic. A universe of possibilities, which is where the name of my artistic approach comes from: The Universe of Possibilities.
The Feather in My Creations: The Feather Series
Concretely, this symbolism takes shape in my Feather Series: feather sculptures made from reclaimed wood, shaped, carved, then highlighted with color and detailed with pyrography for some pieces. Each piece brings discarded material back to life, turning this act of repurposing into a symbol of flight.
This same symbolism also appears in my wood and leather earrings, designed as small feathers you carry with you, a subtle reminder that you can stay grounded while giving yourself permission to shine.
